"I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society, but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power."

- Thomas Jefferson

I offer Geology and Astronomy courses in the hope of inspiring my students to pursue a life-long interest in the world around them. I hope I am helping to prepare students to take up the reins of their own education so that they can use their imaginations to solve the problems of the next generation. Talk to me about research opportunities like the SIRI program at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, uses for a goniometric photopolarimeter (here is a recent publication), anything related to Geology, Oceanography, Astrobiology, Planetary Sciences, or even IR spectroscopy of ammonia ice!
